Alumni Achievement
Congratulations to Traci Duff, Class of 2012, for having been accepted into the National Honor Society at St. Mary's High School. Letters of recommendation and application were submitted. Out of 22 students at her school, only 12 were accepted. Traci is also in the National Spanish Honor Society and the Math Honor Society.
LLS Student of the Year Candidate
Congratulations to our alumni Traci Duff, Class of 2012, for a successful fundraising campaign. She raised over $6,000 to benefit leukemia and lymphoma research.
At the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Student of the Year Gala which was held March 4th, Traci Duff received one of the three Citizen Awards. These three awards were: Mission Integration Award, Leadership Award, and Community Involvement Award. Overall, nominees were judged on creativity, passion, reach and leadership. Traci received the Leadership Award.
For the Leadership award the candidates needed to show a commitment to utilizing their leadership skills as well as encouraging and cultivating the team throughout the campaign. Specific examples showing how the candidate demonstrated excellent or consistent leadership was required. The candidate also had to effectively adapt to challenges during the campaign and continue to lead the team members through change. The candidate also had to exhibit leadership in other ways outside of the campaign such as in other groups she is involved with.
Summer Honors Program
Madison Berrios, GSA Class of 2012, who is attending Queen of Peace High School, received a scholarship this summer to attend the Summer Honors Institute at Long Island University. Madison attended the week long program in July along with other exceptionally talented high school students from across the country titled, “Entrepreneurship: Bring Your Own Business."
Honor Society
Brianna Clyburn and Katelyn Dominguez being inducted into Queen of Peace Sophomore Honor Society
Jacob Edgehill who is an alumni and assisting Coach Laura Perez-Clyburn in our volleyball league, won the Essex County Championship held last March 2015.
Mary Lopreiato (GSA class of 2007), 4th year Architecture student at NJIT and her team won 1st prize in the Dana Knox Student Research Showcase.
