Our SummerFun program is open to both GSA and public school students from PreK-4 to 7th grade. It is a six week program beginning at the end of June to the end of July (specific dates TBD). The hours are from 9:00am to 3:00pm, however parents may choose just mornings (9:00am-12:00pm) or afternoon sessions (12:00pm-3:00pm). Additionally, there is both before-care (7:00am-9:00am) and after-care (3:00pm-5:00pm) available. Lunch is brown bag only.
Statistics show that during the summer, students lose 2.6 months of learning! To rectify this, our morning session is focused on academics. Our curriculum uses Summer Skills books which review material learned in the previous school year. We also offer a Recommended/Required program (teacher recommended) where students receive more individualized attention. Part of the morning session is also spent working on student’s summer reading and educational computer time. All academics are conducted by certified teachers and assisted by college and high school counselors.
We begin each day with prayers along with a Bible reading and discussion. The afternoon session includes arts and crafts (weekly theme) and physical education (lunch recess and structured games). Students also have opportunities to play games, build with Legos, and small arts and crafts projects. On a weekly basis, we offer culinary and science activities.
SummerFun makes learning fun!!
